Photographer Mark Slater is based in Redondo Beach, California. Over the decades he has shot in many photographic disciplines including editorial fashion, avant-garde, runway, lifestyle, fitness, beauty, glamour, art, fantasy, pin up, fine art nude, boudoir, fetish and dark beauty. With a mother who was a professional artist who did fashion illustration and a father who was a scientist he feels equally at home in both the artistry and aesthetics and highly technical sides of photography. His artistic style can easily span from quite edgy, provocative, dark and erotic to sweet light airy and wholesome.

Philosophy

His goal is to create images that go beyond just pretty pictures. He wants the viewer to actually think and feel something deep and keep coming back. He's fascinated by symbolism, traditional art forms, dreams, irony, emerging social trends and references to what's happening out there right now in the real world. Even beyond that he's fascinated by how many photoshoots have become both a cathartic therapeutic experience and an all consuming flow experience for those involved. Ideally it can become the ultimate in creative collaboration.

The Present Moment

Up to now, he has been doing shoots based primarily on word of mouth and networking. He's increasing his internet and social media presence to cast a larger net for future collaborations. He's currently playing around with developing a new artistic style called neoboudoir. Actually related, he's also involved with fashion videos. He is still taking new clients on a limited basis but primarily focused on work for existing clients and personal projects.
